WHAT AVIATION CAN LEARN FROM THE UK ENERGY TASKFORCE.
There is a new mindset forming that is slowly recognising the need for real transformation if we are going to be ready for the challenges of the future. Last month the Minister for Energy, Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, announced the launch of an Energy Digitalisation Taskforce in the UK. Under the chairmanship of Laura Sandys CBE, this group is assessing the country’s energy needs and infrastructure to understand how to modernize and decarbonize it, so the UK can transition to net-zero emissions. They are thinking outside the box and looking at the entire energy vertical to see what and how might need to evolve to create efficiencies. “Digitalisation” has been a phrase in aviation for over a decade – but have we really embraced the potential.
In a recent article in Simple Flying I highlight the importance of digitalisation across aviation and shine a light on the UK’s energy sector where the government is looking at more than tinkering with a 100+ year old infrastructure.
